What can someone learn from your photo?
A photo looks like just an image, but the file wrapped around those pixels is a small dossier. Anyone with the original — not a screenshot, the original file — can read it in seconds. Here's the full list of what's actually in there.
The data hidden in a typical photo
Location: the exact GPS latitude and longitude where the shot was taken, often accurate to a few meters. This is the most sensitive field — a photo from home reveals your address.
Device and time: the make and model of your phone or camera, the exact date and time down to the second, and sometimes serial numbers or owner names that link separate photos to the same device.
Camera and software: lens, exposure, orientation, and the app or editor used. And increasingly, C2PA "Content Credentials" that record whether an image was AI-generated or edited.

Can someone get my address from a photo?
If the original file still has GPS metadata, yes — the coordinates can point directly to where it was taken, including your home. Removing the metadata first prevents this.
Do screenshots contain this data?
Usually not — a screenshot is a fresh image without the original's GPS or device EXIF. The risk is in sharing original photo files.
