Strip AI-generation metadata from images
Images from DALL·E, Adobe Firefly, Google Imagen, and Microsoft Designer ship with invisible provenance tags (C2PA Content Credentials) marking them as AI-generated, often with tool and timestamp details.
What AI tools embed
These tags are designed to persist and identify AI origin. They live in the file's metadata and survive ordinary copying.
Standard EXIF tools ignore them entirely, so an image can look "clean" while still carrying its AI provenance.
Removing AI provenance tags
NoTrace scans for common C2PA Content Credentials markers and drops stale provenance payloads while cleaning supported files. Cryptographic manifest verification is not included yet.

FAQ
Will removing AI metadata always work?
NoTrace drops supported embedded provenance payloads from the cleaned copy and rescans for known markers. Other AI-detection methods may still classify the visible image, and cryptographic C2PA validation is not included yet.
